Christophe's Comment - Updated Weekly... sort of!??!! OK, so maybe he'll stay a bit longer?!!!??? Unreal - Glenn Hoddle's the new Saints boss. A good or a bad thing? Well, I for one reckon it's good. Jones had been having a laugh for far too long and as long as Glenny boy doesn't go all weird on us, I'd say we've got it made, in a Saints-ish way (i.e. we'll avoid relegation this season and then hope for better things the next!!). As we all expected, instantly upon his appointment (which I still find unbelievable I might add) the Matty question was raised. And rightly so. I find it hard to take in that some of us So'ton fans have, in my opinion, been easily led and even brainwashed by the actions and opinions of Dave Jones regarding Matt. So many people jumped on Jones' bandwagon saying that Matt is a fat waster who'll never do it for us again. It was nice to hear Glenn giving him some praise and saying that he'd got nothing to prove to him. Let's not forget that it wasn't too long ago (OK, so it was 2 years) that Matty played for England B and scored a stunning hattrick with 2 other efforts hitting the woodwork! He was presented with a challenge then to which he responded. Glenn will again present him with a challenge and an opportunity to play football the way he likes to. We await his response. So, you can call me a Judas if you want, especially considering my "Taking the Tiss" page. The fact is that although I still don't agree with Hod's decision to leave Matt out of the provisional squad for France 98, Matt is still my favorite player of all time and if this guy can get him back to his best, then I'm going to enjoy watching my footballing hero play again Chris 04/02/2000 |

Hugh's View Chris, How are you mate? I have to say I am still completely tissed off with Glenn Hoddle. He tells Tiss, go on then mate prove yourself and Tiss says, O.K. mate I will; scores a hat-trick for the B-team and a goal in every game for Soton and then Hod says, sorry mate that's just not good enough.
